WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU HIT THE BOTTOM .

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU HIT THE BOTTOM .

Have you ever suffered from deep emotional trouble ?

Do you desire to be mentally strong , so that you can be a pillar of strength in every crisis ?

We all travel in life through emotional circles of ups and downs . When we are up and happy , life is easy . When we are down in pain or crisis , life is difficult .

When in trouble , we must realize that this too is a passing phase of life . If we are in midnight , the dawn is not far away !

When we are in a war , we are not defined by our victory or defeat : we are defined by the valour with which we face the war . The world salutes Rani Laxmi Bai , Rana Pratap , and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose .

Crisis is the time when we have to establish our character . When we are losing a battle , we don’t need an Army General who will begin to weep : we need a General who will pounce back , turn the table and try to give us a victory .

If you know how to stand like a rock in the face of a disaster , then you are a leader . The entire world then needs you . You will be a pillar of strength for your family . Your organization will give you higher and higher responsibilities and depend on you . You will be an asset for the country , and you will be a blessing for the human society !

Crises come and go , as if in a cycle , in personal life , family life , work life , as well as in social life . We all are looking up for persons who can see us through these adversities . We need iron men . Rise and be one of them .

“ The greatest weapon on earth is the human soul on fire ! “

MY STORY

MY STORY

I am Shyamal Sengupta , the founder and owner of  DARE TO WIN . My first name Shyamal stands for the body-complexion of Lord Krishna . My surname is Sengupta and my mother-tongue is Bengali , though I am brought up in Delhi , the capital of India .
I am an Executive Coach and a Corporate Trainer .
As an executive trainer , I help top executives who are struggling to co-ordinate the working of all the departments under them to maximize profits and to achieve the organizational vision and goals . For that I work with these executives to determine the core areas that they need to focus upon , and accordingly we then decide that what should be the immediate central goal of the organization , say for the next six months to one year . In tune with that , an action-plan is drawn with measurable targets which are time-bound .
As a Corporate Trainer I help those employees who want to strengthen their competence , develop their career , and want to contribute more to the growth of the organization where they are working . For this I find out the strengths of the employee and how he can make full use of that to build his career as well as to contribute to the progress of the organization . Then we trace out the weaknesses of the employee , particularly in such areas as team-playing , leadership , conflict resolution , problem solving and decision taking , goal achievement etc. A step-by-step training program is then designed so that when the trainee goes through it , he may get over his weaknesses .
But how did I come to specialize in this business of coaching ?
I was 17 years old doing Economics Honours from Hindu College , Delhi University . Once in Connaught Place market I came across a book How To Win Friends by Dale Carnegie . As I read the book , I was fascinated . Soon I read another book Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill , and I was captivated . Purchasing and reading self-development books became a hobby and a fancy for me . Yet I was not even remotely thinking of making it my professional career .
Soon I joined State Bank of India ( SBI ) as a Probationary Officer . SBI is a huge Bank , a Fortune 100 Company with a global identity . When I was two promotions and a few years old in SBI , I was selected for the Training Wing in the Bank . I went through Faculty Development Program and was placed as a Trainer after the successful completion of the course . I began teaching Banking subjects to the staff of the Bank . Soon I was handpicked for being trained in Behavioural Science ( B.S. ) by the Bank ( my wide reading of self-development books over years also contributed to my selection for this special and covetable training ) . I went through three phases of intensive training in B.S. in the apex training college of the Bank in Hyderabad . After successful completion of the course I was certified by the Bank as a qualified B.S. Trainer . I then began to train the Bank Staff exclusively in B.S. subjects . This was a turning point in my life : so far I was reading the best-sellers in self-development and applying the learnings for personal growth . I did not know how to impart my ideas to train , coach and develop others . Now , in B.S. I was grilled and trained and strengthened inch-by-inch in how to shape , groom and build my students .That was a major shift !

After a four years stint in the Training Wing , and a very rich and wide experience in coaching huge number and variety of people in B.S. , I was transferred as the Branch Manager of Jehangirpuri Branch in Delhi . I thought long and hard , as I realized that I wanted to be a speaker and a coach for the rest of my life . I put in my papers not knowing exactly how I will launch myself in my new life . I was not sure , and my passion was the only torch-light which led me ahead . In a few months’ time , on Bengali New Year’s Day in 2002 , I launched Dare To Win ( Center for Business Coaching , Management Skills Training , and Personal Counseling ) .

Soon I was being invited by the Training Centers of all Nationalized Banks as a Guest Speaker to address their important staff on various important topics in Behavioural Science . To build on my qualification I did International Courses on Ontology , Life Skills , and Psycho-orientology . Top National Educational Centers and Institutions also began to invite me to groom their final year students . Companies and Corporate Sector were the next to notice me and to invite me to work with them . As time marched on I did a post-graduate diploma course in Psychological Counseling to have a deeper understanding of the working of human mind , followed by a post-graduate degree course in Psychotherapy .

All this while , with 18 years of profound experience in this line , I never told my story to people . Friends suggested to mark my presence on You Tube . I decided to put up my story on my Blog first . Then I will go to You Tube with my story to begin with . I will upload at least one video every month thereafter for my viewers . I will keep the videos short , compact and to-the-point . The videos will be made to help the viewers lead a better life , to raise their level of competence , and to become better human beings in their personal lives .

Meet you soon on the You Tube platform !

BUSINESS / EXECUTIVE COACHING : RISING TO THE NEXT LEVEL

BUSINESS / EXECUTIVE COACHING :

RISING TO THE NEXT LEVEL

"Many of the World's most admired corporations, from GE to Goldman Sachs, invest in coaching. Annual spending on coaching in the US is estimated at roughly $1 Billion Dollars." ― Harvard Business Review .

Even modest improvements can justify hiring a business coach. A reasonable investment in getting a competent coach for an executive who has responsibility for tens of millions of dollars is a sound business decision .

“Business coaching is attracting America’s top CEOs because, put simply, business coaching works.  - FORTUNE Magazine

Xerox Corporation carried out several studies on coaching. They determined that in the absence of follow-up coaching to their training classes, 87% of the skills change brought about by the program was lost.

In a survey carried out by Right Management consultants in America , 86 percent of companies said they used coaching to sharpen skills of individuals who have been identified as future organizational leaders.

"The business demand for coaching is nearly doubling each year. " ― Business Wire

Business / Executive Coaching is for you , if :

§        You are a top executive in a Company or Organization interested in taking it to the next level .
§        You are a team leader or senior executive interested in taking your team performance to the next level .
§        You are an executive interested in improving your performance in the organization and building your career .
§        You are an NGO , or a freelancer , or are engaged in any business activity , and are interested in improving the results that you are producing now .

Executive Coaching , when undertaken , benefits you in many ways :

§        Every area of your activity is put under the magnifying glass . There will be review and fresh thinking on past trends , present activities and future aspirations .
§        There will be flashes of inspirations , fresh ideas , deep understanding and new directions .
§        With new results in sight action-plans will be finally drawn to move on to a higher level .
§        The Return on Investment is usually Very Very High .

The Coaching Methodology is a step-by-step , deep and meticulous process . It is best described as stated below :

The three chief steps of coaching are generally known as :
§        EXPLORATION
§        REALIZATION
§        ACTION

Normally the following six areas of activity are put under the scanner :
§        HR & PERSONNEL
§        FINANCE ( Use of internal resources )
§        MARKETING ( Making use of external resources )
§        OPERATIONS
§        R&D
§        MANAGEMENT ( Checking that the other five areas of activities are performing at an optimum level )

For each area of activity discussed above , the following aspects are looked into :
§        CENTRAL VALUES
§        VISION
§        CENTRAL GOAL
§        STRATEGIC TARGET
§        RESULTS PRODUCED
§        LEVEL OF SATISFACTION
§        BLOCKS

As understanding grows and insights occur , the following steps are taken :
§        SWOT ANALYSIS
§        CHANGES AND OUTCOMES DESIRED WITH 360 DEGREE COVERAGE IN LIGHT OF NEW UNDERSTANDINGS .
§        CRITICAL OUTPUTS .
§        PLAN OF ACTION .
§        SUCCESS CRITERIA .

Using coaching , instead of sending executives and managers to seminars twice or thrice a year , can be more beneficial as well as less expensive .

Executives , unless coached , seldom reach their maximum capabilities.

Therefore it is discreet to have a competent executive coach by your side to build your business as well as to have a rewarding personal life at the same time .
